Eldora was a little dusty, but I’d take that over mud! The committee worked hard on the ground and it was great for a track! A great crowd and an awesome fireworks show after! Thanks to everyone who came out!

Thank you to everyone who made it to Ottumwa to compete!
Once again, BP (Elliot Oil) was a huge sponsor for the rodeo. They provided water for the contestants and crew, pizza for the contestants during slack Friday night, and also gave $50 fuel cards to each event winner!! Thank you to Andrew Woodard and family for the hospitality!
Thank you to the Greater Ottumwa Partners in Progress for planning the great event and to all of the sponsors who made it possible.
We had 374 total contestants and paid out just under $20,000 total to the contestants!
We hope you enjoyed stopping by the beautiful Greater Ottumwa Park over your Cowboy Christmas.
We’ll see ya next year!
What a great crowd at Cresco – they told us the stands held 4,000, and there weren’t many empty seats. I think everyone was happy, so thank you! I won’t complain at all that we got to rodeo on dry ground after 4.5 inches of rain the day before either – thank you to the committee. We understand the obvious (that it was pretty narrow), but we do the best with what we have. I’m so proud of the contestants, mostly the barrel racers and team ropers, for showing up and accepting the challenge without any complaints. Thank you to everyone who traveled north and to our MRA friends who came down to see us!
Border Battle Update:
Rough Stock: Leroy Miller is leading with $539.56
Timed Events: Ryan Holle won both the Open Calf Roping and Over 40 Calf Roping for a total of $681.88.
Judd Grover, Trey Carlson and Kathy Stoker aren’t far behind.
Plenty of rodeo left for everything to change; we’ll see ya in Decorah for the next Border Battle event!

As always, the committee worked their tails off all year have the ultimate experience for everyone!
Contestants are always the #1 priority in Albia and they even came up with $200 added in each of the jackpot events.
We all appreciate you entering and coming to our great little town.
We met with sponsors in their places of business Saturday morning and they were all happy to give their hard-earned money towards the great event.
Great Rodeo, Great Payout, and BEAUTIFUL weather!!
I really want to genuinely thank those of you who trusted us enough to enter the qualifier and rodeo. What a great venue and I was so pleased with the ground!!!
Here are the results from Saturday night:
I’ll be mailing checks that didn’t get picked up!

Iowa Horse Fair Rodeo ’21 Stats:
Contestants 345
Added Money: $4,000
Total Payout: $18,771.80
Another year of record attendance! I think we’ve officially outgrown the Pavilion!
What a night – we had a range of contestants from first time competitors to PRCA Circuit Champions. We bucked 40 bulls with a few in slack. We got through a jam packed performance in just under 3 hours and finished the rest of a big night of slack in another 2.5 hours. We saluted the American worker and sang the National Anthem horseback – what a talented group of people we choose to surround ourselves with.
We have the hardest working crew there is and I’m so honored and proud to consider them my friends.
It was so good to see so many of you contestants after a long fall and winter!! What a great event for the first rodeo of 2021!!
