Stalls. I HATE to be like this, but I don’t know how else to do it. Stalls are $50 each for the weekend – bring your own shavings. You’ll pay $100 and get the balance back after your stall has been cleaned. Unfortunately, last year, Jerry and I cleaned stalled for hours after the event before we gave up and then were still charged hundreds of dollars by the Fairgrounds. The least you can do is clean your own stall.
Stalls will be assigned and labeled; make sure your name is on your stall. Any full stalls with no name will be padlocked by the State Fair Police until we find who the horse belongs to. DO NOT just put your horse in a random stall. Barns will be checked frequently. Someone will be in the barn upon arrival and departure to try to make this as easy as possible. I’d like to say that a few bad apples ruined it for the whole basket, but there were a lot of stalls that weren’t cleaned last year.
Camping on lower grounds is $40 per night. The fees will be collected by the Iowa State Fair Police Department. If they come to your door, expect to pay them.
